Gan Cao, or also popularly known as liquorice root, is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herb that is commonly used to improve gastrointestinal and respiratory health.
In TCM theory, Gan Cao targets the spleen and stomach, helping to promote appetite, healthy bowel movement and pain in gastric and abdominal regions. Gan Cao can also help to treat respiratory-related ailments such as coughs and colds, palpitations, breath shortness and chesty coughs, as well as running sores, abscess and mild poisoning.
