Chloride
Term: Mineral
Chloride is one of the major minerals which our bodies need in relatively large amounts to be healthy. These minerals can be found in a variety of foods, but it is often known as sodium chloride, also known as table salt.
One of the key benefits of consuming chloride is that it helps regulate the amount of fluid and types of nutrients going in and out of our cells. Additionally, it maintain proper pH levels, stimulate stomach acid needed for digestion, stimulate the action of nerve and muscle cells, and facilitate the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide within cells.
Foods with higher amount of chloride would include seaweed, rye, tomatoes, lettuce, and olives.
